Jacksboro ISD
Jacksboro Independent School District is a 2A district with an approximate enrollment of 980 students. The school board and administration believe education is an important part of an individual’s life, and the district strives to instill in students a sense of pride, excellence and tradition that will lead to a prosperous future and productive life. The board envisions a high-quality education for all students in a safe learning environment that is supportive and encouraging.
After successfully passing a $29 million bond issue for a building improvement program, Jacksboro ISD is constructing a new elementary school campus, high school campus, and additions and renovations of a new junior high school campus. Construction of the new elementary campus is projected to be completed by spring of 2007. Constitution of the new high school and junior high school are projected to be completed by August 2008.
Jacksboro schools have been rated exemplary and recognized both at the district and campus level by the Texas Education Agency. Excellence in teaching and learning is a daily goal of the administration, faculty and staff. Parents and community members expect high standards in the classroom and in extracurricular activities. Jacksboro ISD provides a wide variety of course offerings and extracurricular activities for students including award winning UIL, DIFFA, FCCLA, Band, VICA and FBLA teams at the district, regional, state and national levels. Tiger pride is always evident as students participate at the district level and beyond in football, basketball, power lifting, baseball, softball, cross-country, volleyball, golf and track.
