Economic Development

The Jacksboro Economic Development Corporation (JEDC) is an incorporated entity under the Development Corporation Act of 1979 (Article 5190.6), as amended. Following an enabling election on February 1, 2003 to administer a 4B economic development sales tax, the JEDC became a fully functional economic development corporation on October 1, 2003.

Pursuant to the Development Corporation Action of 1979, as amended, the Jacksboro Economic Development Corporation provides economic development support for those projects that comply with Section 4B of the act. Eligible projects may include yet are not limited to land, buildings, equipment, facilities and improvements that assist in the promotion of new and expanded business development, job creation and retention as well as parks and related improvements and tourism.

A 275 acre business park on the south side of the city of Jacksboro, Texas is being developed, and sites (selected by qualified businesses) are available. The JEDC also offers assistance in building construction and furnishings.
