The City of Jacksboro, county seat of Jack County, is a Texas municipal government that was incorporated in 1875. Jacksboro is centrally located between Wichita Falls and Fort Worth. The community offers a small town atmosphere with numerous recreation and tourism opportunities. Among them, Fort Richardson State Park, which is host to approximately 160,000 visitors annually and has an economic impact of approximately $1 million during the year. Fort Richardson has over 100 recreational vehicle facilities and campsites coupled with a 12-mile hike, bike and equestrian trail.
The trail traverses laterally between Lost Creek and Lost Creek Reservoir. The City is also host to an estimated 5,000 deer hunters annually as the central location for deer hunting in the County.

Jacksboro is a community rich in cultural heritage and history. Many of the limestone buildings were constructed in the mid-to-late 19th century and there is significant historical restoration of building sites throughout the city. Many retail and specialty shops are located on the square. Jacksboro is considered the birthplace of 4H and memorabilia is located in the Jack County Museum located on US 380 (West Belknap Street).
Jacksboro supports a regional medical facility, Faith Community Hospital, and an assisted living facility, Greystone Park. The hospital provides mobile emergency care services to Jacksboro and the County and is a Level IV trauma center. The City is expected to complete a comprehensive master plan that will ensure orderly growth and development. The City supports economic development through its alliance with the Jacksboro Economic Development Corporation and the Jacksboro Chamber of Commerce.
Jacksboro is committed to beautification and community aesthetics and the Keep Jacksboro Beautiful Board supports and participates in local and statewide efforts designed to honor the regional landscape. The City is justifiably proud of its two monument entranceway signs and is a affiliate member of Keep Texas Beautiful.
