The annual lighted Christmas parade and festival will be Thursday, December 3, 2009. Christmas music will be played on the square prior ro the parade by KJKB radio starting at 5 p.m. There will be a chili supper on the NE side of the courthouse starting at 5 p.m. Mrs. Santa will arrive at 6 p.m at the start of the parade and Santa will arrive to join her and meet the children at the end of the parade, on the courthouse steps. The city police station will be open for the public to see their decorations and get some hot chocolate. Other stores and businesses will be open on the square. At this writing there are 27 entries in the parade so don't miss the fun and festivities! This is a time for families in the community to enjoy seeing the spirit of Christmas arrive in Jacksboro and enjoy the lights. Hope to see you there!

On Saturday, December 12, 2009, Ft. Richardson State park will host Free family fishing day from 9 a.m.-Noon. Bring the family and enjoy the morning at Quarry Lake. For more information call the park office at (940)567-3506.

On Saturday, December 12 from 2 p.m.-4 p.m., Fort Richardson State Park in Jacksboro, Texas will be hosting Mrs. Tammy's Acrobatics and Dance Troupe from Mineral Wells, Texas. Join the fun as dancers (2 year olds through Teens) perform tap, jazz, ballet and hip hop routines especially choreographed for this occasion. You'll flip over the tumblers as they bound over the boards on the porch of the hospital of historic Fort Richardson! Event is free. Park entry fees apply.
