| 9:00 am | to | 4:00 pm |
Richard Gonzalez and Anita Anaya, descendants of Cueigas de Castro and members of the Lipan Apache Band of Texas, are coming to Fort Richardson to host and present an education day for the general public on August 16, 2008. They will offer the Lipan Apache perspective on our history. They will dress in 1850's handmade period clothing, bring authentic cookbooks of the Lipan Apache foods and setup a tee pee decorated with traditional symbols. They will also bring a historical marker, written in their own words, of the May 18, 1873 McKenzie Raid on their village at El Remolino. For more information contact the park office at 940-567-3506.
